Acquisition Unites Two Family-founded Builders with a Shared Commitment to Innovation, Craftsmanship, and Community Impact

TAMPA BAY, Fla. – Moss, a top-ranked national construction management firm, announced today that it has acquired Tampa-based Ellison Construction. The acquisition brings together two highly regarded builders with deep roots in Florida and a shared passion for delivering transformative projects that shape cities, serve communities, and stand the test of time.

Known for their craftsmanship, client trust, and impact across Tampa Bay, Moss and Ellison share a strong cultural alignment and a belief that great buildings begin with great people. The acquisition deepens Moss’ already strong presence in one of the nation’s fastest-growing regions, expanding its ability to serve clients with increased capacity, expertise, and care.

“We’re excited to welcome Ellison Construction’s talented team into Moss. Their values and commitment to quality make them a natural fit with the culture and long-term vision that guide our work,” said Scott Moss, CEO of Moss. “This acquisition is about building a stronger, more resilient business—one that can better serve our clients, invest in our people, and help shape the future of the Tampa Bay communities where we live and build.”

Moss has the scale, local relationships, resources, and long-term commitment needed to serve clients across the region. The addition of Ellison Construction strengthens this footprint and supports Moss’ strategy of intentional growth in markets that matter most. “This was a thoughtful decision about future growth and what best serves our people and clients,” said Cory Ellison, president of Ellison Construction, who will join Moss alongside the broader Ellison Construction team. “We found a partner that values culture, collaboration and the community as much as we do. Moss is a respected builder and industry leader, and the alignment between our teams and their long-term vision made this the right path forward.”

Ellison Development will continue operating as a separate entity, with Casey Ellison remaining as CEO. Today’s move also creates a strategic construction relationship between Ellison Development and Moss while allowing the leadership at Ellison to focus more on the growth of the newly announced ARK Ellison fund established with Cathie Wood and ARK Invest, as well as existing projects currently in the pipeline. Those include three major master-planned developments: The Central in St. Petersburg, the Heights Redevelopment in Tampa Heights, and The Fletcher District in partnership with the University of South Florida.

Sam Ellison will continue to lead Ellison Advisors, an owner’s representative firm currently representing the Tampa Museum of Art, the Tampa Theatre, and others. For more information about Moss, visit www.moss.com.

Milestone marks visual and vertical momentum as Gasworx continues to take shape in Ybor City

TAMPA, Fla. – October 27, 2025 – Moss, a top-ranked national construction firm, announces the topping-out of a six-story office and retail building in Ybor City’s Gasworx district. The more than 145,000-square-foot building will serve as the future headquarters for Grow Financial and a key piece of the broader district designed to bring new life to Tampa’s most historic neighborhood.

The office tower, designed by S9Architecture with Smallwood serving as the architect of record, blends modern design with nods to Ybor City’s storied architecture that has defined the area for generations. Located in the heart of the Barrio Latino Historic District, the building will also feature 9,000-square-feet of ground-floor retail to activate the streetscape.

Future tenants and visitors will enjoy a rooftop deck, outdoor terraces, a state-of-the-art conference facility, and a welcoming lobby café and bar that connects directly to the Gasworx retail and dining marketplace. With Grow Financial committed to occupying 50 percent of the building, the project is set to bring a daily influx of new businesses, workers, and energy into the district.

“Our workers have been steadfast in their dedication to reach this stage, and when complete, this building will be an instrumental piece of the Gasworx vision,” said Toby Manulak, Senior Vice President of Moss’ Mid-Florida Region, based in Tampa. “Topping out ceremonies are always a proud moment for Moss, but this one is especially meaningful, as our work will help bring renewed energy into this historic district.”

The soon-to-be-named office building is part of the larger Gasworx revitalization project, led by KETTLER in partnership with local developer Darryl Shaw and PPF Group. Encompassing 50 acres, the project will deliver thousands of new residences, extensive office and retail opportunities, a new city park, pedestrian-friendly streets, and a new TECO Streetcar stop.

“The progress at Gasworx is now becoming visible at scale,” said Graham Tyrrell, Managing Director – Florida at KETTLER. “With this office building and neighboring housing portions of the project coming to life, the grand vision for Gasworx is coming into focus. We are creating a sought-after district that will reflect both the rich history of Ybor City and the vibrant future of Tampa.”

In addition to the office, Moss is also constructing Olivette, a neighboring mixed-use building with 376 residential units and nearly 30,000 square feet of retail space.

Construction of the office building is scheduled for completion in 2026. To learn more about Moss visit, moss.com. To learn more about Gasworx, visit gasworx.com.

TAMPA, Fla. –  Moss, a top-ranked national construction firm, has been honored with three prestigious Excellence in Construction Awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Gulf Coast Chapter. The wins further solidify its reputation for quality, innovation, and leadership in the industry.

At ABC’s annual gala, Moss received Project of the Year, the chapter’s highest distinction, for its work on the transformative St. Regis Resort and Residences on Longboat Key. The firm also earned two Eagle Awards for the JW Marriott Beach Resort & Spa and the Amalie Arena Ice Plant Replacement.

“These awards reflect Moss’ drive to deliver not just exceptional buildings, but forward-thinking solutions,” said Toby Manulak, Senior Vice President of Moss’ Mid-Florida division, based in Tampa. “Our teams thrive on taking challenges head-on—through proactive planning, smart innovation, and a relentless focus on quality. That’s how we continue to exceed expectations and build projects that stand the test of time.”

The $376 million St. Regis Resort and Residences showcased Moss’ ability to manage coastal regulatory hurdles, complex logistics, and budget constraints—while maintaining luxury standards. The team leveraged Building Information Modeling (BIM), dual subcontractors for key trades, and a strong commitment to local contractor engagement to complete the 28-month build, elevating Longboat Key’s hospitality experience.

The JW Marriott Beach Resort & Spa in Clearwater Beach, built during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, presented another unique set of challenges. Moss deployed just-in-time procurement and adaptive engineering to overcome supply chain issues and space limitations, delivering a 16-story resort that generated hundreds of local jobs.

For Amalie Arena, Moss modernized the facility’s aging ice plant system while working around 33 scheduled events. Through night and weekend shifts, the team completed the upgrade safely and efficiently—supporting uninterrupted operations for the Tampa Bay Lightning and arena events.

“At Moss, we don’t just build buildings—we build communities,” said Tyler Harper, Project Executive at Moss. “Our culture of excellence drives us to create places that strengthen economies, uplift people, and leave a legacy for the cities we serve.”

“Winning three awards in one year is a true testament to Moss’ commitment to hiring quality ABC trade partners and leading with innovation,” said Steve Cona III, President and CEO of ABC Gulf Coast Chapter. “Moss consistently raises the bar for what’s possible in construction by fostering collaboration, solving complex challenges, and creating lasting impacts with the projects they construct and in the communities they serve.”

Moss’ recognition at this year’s gala underscores the company’s leadership in problem-solving, local workforce development, and transformative project delivery.

Building on this momentum, the Mid-Florida division is spearheading several high-impact projects, including One Tampa, a premier mixed-use tower in downtown Tampa; a multi-family community and trophy office tower in the Gasworx district; and the next phase of The Ritz-Carlton Residences on Sarasota Bay. Across all projects, Moss continues to set new benchmarks for sustainability, strategy, and excellence.

TAMPA, Fla. –  Moss, a top-ranked national construction firm, announced today the successful completion of the highly anticipated Opal Sol Luxury Resort & Spa in Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Constructed for Ocean Properties Ltd., the 16-story, 680,000-square-foot luxury resort opened its doors to guests in February. It delivers a signature blend of upscale, all-suite accommodations, premier amenities, and one of the largest meeting venues on the west coast of Florida. Every suite has unrivaled Gulf views. Opal Sol includes a parking garage with more than 500 spaces.

Designed by Nichols Architects, Opal Sol offers 248 spacious suite units, each featuring expansive private balconies overlooking the beautiful Gulf waters. The resort boasts three elevated decks, four restaurants—Drift, Lolita’s, Beach Market and Toast—a spa with full-service salt room and large fitness center, four ballrooms, and future retail storefronts along the Beach Walk.

A unique elevated pedestrian bridge now connects Opal Sol to its sister property, Opal Sands, enhancing and expanding the luxury experience, as guests can take advantage of offerings from both resorts.

The completion of Opal Sol marks a significant milestone for Moss and Ocean Properties, reinforcing the strong, decade-long strong relationship cultivated with other hotel and construction projects the companies have worked on together. The relation between Ocean Properties, Ltd. with its subsidiaries and Moss has spanned over 10 years.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to see that partnership evolve into the creation of Opal Sol, which was delivered on time and under budget,” said Toby Manulak, Senior Vice President of Moss’ Mid-Florida Region, based in Tampa. “This resort reflects the trust and shared vision between our teams to deliver iconic projects that elevate Clearwater Beach’s hospitality offerings.”

Moss’ commitment to schedule certainty, craftsmanship, and meticulous quality control played a key role in overcoming challenges during the project’s construction timeline. Despite dealing with four named tropical storms throughout the build, Moss delivered Opal Sol on time, ensuring the new luxury resort was ready to welcome guests for the busiest time of the year on Clearwater Beach.

“Building a luxury resort of this caliber requires an unwavering focus on detail,” Manulak said.  “From the foundation to the finishes, our team approached every phase of construction with precision to ensure Opal Sol met the highest standards— bringing the visions of Nichols Architects and interior designer IDDI to life and delivering the exceptional quality expected of an Opal property.”

Nancy Cimney, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Opal Collection, emphasized the resort’s distinctive appeal.

“Opal Sol offers the elevated level of accommodations, the largest Gulfview meeting space and service our guests expect, but with unique elements that truly set it apart,” said Cimney. “From the dual pool decks and sweeping Gulf views to the thoughtfully curated dining experiences and upscale guest rooms, every detail is designed to create unforgettable moments.”

The addition of Opal Sol now makes the hotels of Opal Collection some of the largest beachfront space on the west coast of Florida. Opal hotels have 125,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, plus 55,000 square feet of outdoor space with just around 800 rooms with parking for over 1,000 vehicles in the Clearwater market.

Opal Sol was designed to meet customers’ desire for first class, full service amenities, and suites with all-water-view balconies on one of the best beaches in the U.S.
